Take a minute to check an agent's feedback before making a deal — and remember to leave your own after a viewing, so future renters can benefit too.
Meet with agents or landlords face to face and view the property in person before you make any payment. Check that the room lives up to what was advertised before handing over money.
Only pay once you've confirmed the exact room or property you're renting — its condition, its facilities, and its location. Don't let anyone swap it for a different unit after you've paid.
Be careful and avoid scams such as fake payment services, unusual fee requests, or requests to use unfamiliar money transfer services. Never share your PIN codes or passwords with anyone.
Please avoid anything that appears too good to be true — for example, unrealistically low rent or promises of a guaranteed booking without ever viewing the property.
Revisit the location, talk to the security personnel and neighbours. Confirm the property's availability, clarify if it's for sale or rent, and get the owner's or property manager's contact details. These simple actions will help you ensure that the deal is reliable.
